It is natural for a person to want to achieve recognition in this life. The following
Scriptures will give you some real insights as to how this can become a reality.

Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice. Proverbs 13:10

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 (NIV)

A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.  Proverbs 29:23 (NIV)

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be
exalted."  Luke 14:11 (NIV)

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but
gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.  
James 4:6,10 (NIV)

Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life. Proverbs 22:4 (NIV)

Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the
LORD. "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at
my word.  Isaiah 66:2 (NIV)

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with
people of low position. Do not be conceited. Romans 12:16
