“The Sacraments;
Baptism and The Lords' Supper”
HOME
Jesus instituted Baptism and the Lord's Supper as lasting practices for His followers.
Baptism is the initiation rite into the church, into a relationship with Christ and into the
power of the Holy Spirit.  The Lord's Supper is a meal of love and remembrance.  In it we
have fellowship with Christ and fellowship with one another.  In a simple meal of bread
and juice we are fed spiritually.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his
disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and
offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.  This is my blood of the covenant,
which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.  Matthew 26:26-28 (NIV)

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry,
and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.  36 But as I told you, you have seen me
and still you do not believe. John 6:35 (NIV)

Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and
