Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and
your joy will be complete. John 16:24 (NIV)

opened to you.) Matthew 7:7 (NIV)

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not
know. Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV)

to his power that is at work within us, Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without
finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 (NIV)

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to
his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-- whatever we ask-- we know that
we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14, 15 (NIV)

“Hindrances to Prayer”

God does hear and answer prayer.  The answer is not always “Yes,” and sometimes the
answer is a long time coming.  There are certain hindrances to prayer as the following
verses indicate.

1.  Circle keywords or phrases in the following Scriptures.

If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; Psalm 66:18 (NIV)

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God         and
receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases
him. 1 John 3:21, 22 (NIV)

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be
given you John 15:7 (NIV)

But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave
of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive
anything from the Lord; James 1:6, 7 (NIV)

You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you
want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you
ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what
you get on your pleasures. James 4:2, 3 (NIV)

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my
face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their
sin and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
