“Our Mighty GOD, His Nature/Attributes”
HOME
Knowing about God is critical for living our lives.  The world becomes a strange, mad, and
painful place for those who do not know about God.  Not to know God is to stumble and
blunder through life blindfolded, with no sense of direction and no understanding of what
is happening around you.  The mightiest thoughts the mind can entertain are the
thoughts of God. Therefore, our ideas concerning God should correspond to that which
is true of God.

GOD IS:
    Sovereign
    Eternal
    Omniscient
    Omnipresent
    Omnipotent
    Immutable
    Righteous
    Just
    Love
    Veracity/Truth

1.  Look up and circle keywords or phrases in the following Scriptures.

GOD IS SOVEREIGN: The word sovereign means chief, highest or supreme.  When we
say that God is sovereign, we are saying that He is the number one ruler in the universe.
The idea of sovereignty is an encouraging one, for it assures the Christian that nothing is
out of God’s control, and that His plans do triumph. PSALM 103:19; 2 SAMUEL 7:28;
1 CHRONICLES 29:10-13

GOD IS ETERNAL: There has never been a time when God did not exist.  He has no
beginning and He has no end.  Being eternal, God is not bound by time.  Having always
existed He sees the past and the future as clearly as the present.  Knowing this, we
should be willing to trust Him with our lives.  PROVERBS 3:5, 6; ISAIAH 44:6;
REVELATION 1:8; 1 TIMOTHY 1:17

GOD IS OMNISCIENT: God possesses all the knowledge there is to have.  Nothing ever
takes Him by surprise.  If God knows all, then obviously nothing can come to light after
salvation, which He did not know when He saved us. HEBREWS 4:13; JOB 42:2;
ISAIAH 40:12-14

GOD IS OMNIPRESENT: God is infinite and present everywhere through all time and
space.  If God is everywhere, it is foolish to think we can hide from Him. JEREMIAH 23:24;
PROVERBS 15:3; DEUTERONOMY 31:6; COLOSSIANS 1:17

GOD IS OMNIPOTENT: God is all-powerful, having more than enough strength to do the
sum total of all things.  God’s omnipotence is seen in His power to create, in His
preservation of all things and in His providential care for us. PHILIPPIANS 3:20;
PSALM 147:5;  EPHESIANS 3:20; GENESIS 1:1;  HEBREWS 1:3

GOD IS IMMUTABLE: God never changes in His nature or attributes.  The Bible contains
thousands of things that God has promised to do for those who belong to Him.  He can
be trusted to keep His Word. NUMBERS 23:19; PSALM 102:27; HEBREWS 13:8

GOD IS RIGHTEOUS: It is impossible for Him to do or cause anything that is wrong
DEUTERONOMY 32:4; PSALM 111:1-3; ISAIAH 45:20-25; 2 CORINTHIANS 5:21

GOD IS JUST: It is impossible for Him to do anything that is unfair, either to Himself or to
man. This is both a comfort (for those who have been wronged in life) and a warning (for
those who think they have been getting away with evil).  ROMANS 1:18;
REVELATION 15:3, 4; 2 TIMOTHY 4:8; 2 THESSALONIANS 1:3-10

GOD IS LOVE: God is perfect infinite love.  His love is given freely and without any
consideration of the loveliness or merit of the object.  Godly love is that love which seeks
good for the object loved.  Love expresses itself in action. ROMANS 5:8; JOHN 3:16; 1
JOHN 3:16; ROMANS 8:37-39

GOD IS VERACITY: He is absolute truth. When a person comes to Jesus, his quest for
truth ends and freedom begins.  Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall
make you free.” (John 8:32) PSALM 33:4; TITUS 1:2
